In a period devoid of love, the spiritual worries of Mazzucconi, who was starting to come out of the shadow that had been cast upon him for quite some time, were leading him to visions and intuitions of noticeable value, but their pictorial result is characterised by a certain chill. The sacred fire of love, that gives painting all its power, in the happy moments, but more still in the unhappy ones, is no longer behind it.
