Vittorio Mazzucconi's paintings,
with the Artist's comments
(12/23)

The involvement has become much deeper than a mere sexual attraction while, compared to it, the ordinary life, deprived of eros, looked as very dull. The dissension and the despair in the Artist soul also became more deep, and found an expression in the best paintings of that period.

The Harpy
1978
80 x 100, oil on canvas
... perchè la tua sensibilità mi è apparsa congiunta alle piume di un funebre uccello e il tuo volto è stato assorbito dalla morte come una maschera, come una falce di luna?

L’Egorgé
1978
110 x 80, oil on canvas
It is very much as if this love were killing me. The seduction and mystery of the feminine soul are expressed with a mask, as in many other paintings.

The Golden Fleece
1978
100 x 100, oil on canvas
...you seemed to be Apollo. You once used to handle the bow and the lyre, but today all that remains is a fragment, to be used as an oar. It is difficult to navigate in times as hard as ours. Besides, you are crippled, devoid of head as of legs, setting out in a crusade to find yourself, like a golden treasure, oh mythical Argonaut...
