This project is one of the most intense and least understood of those proposed by Mazzucconi for Paris. Its coordinates are multiple: the presence of history, with the evocation of stones from the destroyed fortress (in the project turned into glass-covered blocks); the dialogue with the Colonne de Juillet and its monument, true genius loci; the integration of old houses of Rue de Charenton; the conservation of the viaduct arches to create an elevated passageway; the walkway passing over Rue de Lyon to connect the new theatre with the lively area along the Arsenal basin, ecc.
As a whole, there is an extremely strong rapport between the history of the district, the functional complexity of the proposed theme and a modernity that breaks away from tradition. The form of the Ark, which summarizes this relationship in its message, is once again proposed for Paris, but this time as an ark-ship in the dockyard, ready to set sail for other shores.
