This project is directly related to the preceding project for St-Germain-in-Laye. It is in fact from this small city that one reaches the Tete Défense in Paris. This is also the path of the King, from the cradle to the exercise of his power.
Coming from St-Germain, the project is presented like a vessel or an Ark that "saves" the Arch of Triumph of Etoile, very small due to its perspective. This new "incarnation" of the Ark originated in a relatively banal observeration: the Knit building, rising next to the project, had the form of a fallen arch and required a complementary form - an upended arch - to balance the composition of the square. This idea was developed to the point that it became a true Arch of Triumph turned over; a strong emblem for a new idea of political power, not a closed one in a nationalistic affirmation, but open to sharing and seeking dialogue with the entire world.
(The same idea is expressed in the building called FLOWER in the DAWNING CITY, project for the new Center of Florence, which can be seen as an overturned dome, open and offering itself to the whole world.)
